btw, i play just about everything but i primarily play reggae, rock , and funk

Well a piccolo drum is like it’s namesake flute.
It’s a very high pitched snare.
You are much better off with a regular snare with the deeper body.

you can always tune the regular snare up a bit to get the high snappy tone of a piccolo snare but can’t use a piccolo snare to get a deeper rock or funk snare sound.
